  • Lead Grant Writer

Nicolette John is a first-year medical student at Brown University from Brooklyn, NY. She majored in Integrative Biology and Chemistry at Harvard University. In college, her research centered around identifying barriers to heart regeneration using the CRISPR Cas 9 tool and zebrafish as the model organism. Her lab work centered on the identification of genes activated during natural regeneration, with the goal of facilitating the design of therapies to induce regrowth after myocardial infarction. Upon entering medical school, she found herself drawn to the field of dermatology, intrigued by its unique blend of investigative work and the intersection it provides with technology and other clinical specialties. She is particularly interested in epidemiology, the patient experience, and understanding health disparities in dermatology. Outside of medical school, she enjoys roller skating, going on walks and spending time with family and friends.
